Music and Dance Remain Prominent at Holiday Folk Fair International

MILWAUKEE, WI – Dancers and musicians representing cultures from around the world will continue to be a key component of the 77th annual Holiday Folk Fair International, America’s premiere multi-cultural festival that will be presented online at www.FolkFair.org starting Fri., Nov. 20.

Videos of dance and musical performances by the following groups and/or individuals will be offered as part of this year’s event:

  • Caledonia Scottish Dancers
  • Chuevang Xion, Hmong Musician
  • Dance Academy of Mexico (Youth and Adult Group Performances)
  • Dnipro Ukrainian Adult Dance Ensemble
  • Filipino American Association of Wisconsin
  • The Givatayim (Israeli) Dance Group
  • Kalyna Ukrainian Dance Ensemble (Children)
  • Latvian Dance Group
  • LAUME Lithuanian Folk Dance Group
  • Milwaukee Croatian Tamburitzans
  • Na Less Bulgarian Cultural Dancers
  • Nefertari African Dance Company
  • Polynesian Dance Group
  • Promin Ukrainian Youth Dance Ensemble
  • Paul Trebian, Tlingit Native American Group
  • Syrena Polish Folk Dance Group
  • Tradizione Vivente (Italian Dance Group of Milwaukee)
  • Viata Romanesca Romanian Folk Dance Ensemble

In addition, groups have prepared dance demonstration videos that will allow viewers to practice and learn dances performed by the cultural groups during Holiday Folk Fair International and at other locations throughout the area. The following groups prepared dance demos:

  • Shanley Spence, Indigenous Dancer
  • Turam Turkish Folk Dance Ensemble
  • Tradizione Vivente (Italian Dance Group of Milwaukee)

A program of the International Institute of Wisconsin (IIW), the 2020 event theme is “Celebrate the Culture of Plants – The Seeds of Heritage,” which will explore how plants are used by groups from around the world to shape their heritage.

In addition to the videos of dance/musical performances, visitors to www.FolkFair.org will have the opportunity to view cooking and artisan demonstrations, education presentations, participant interviews, and “Folk Fair Through the Years” presentations.
