Ethnic Groups Honored for Holiday Folk Fair International Cultural Displays

MILWAUKEE, WI – Eleven exhibitor displays were recognized for Cultural Exhibits Awards in conjunction with the 75th annual Holiday Folk Fair International, America’s premiere multi-cultural festival, held Fri., Nov. 16 – Sun., Nov. 18, 2018, at the State Fair Park Exposition Center in West Allis, Wis.

            Awards were presented in the following categories:

  • Best Interaction with Public: Milwaukee Bonsai Society
  • Best Educational Presentation: St. Mary/Antonious Coptic Orthodox Church (Egyptian)
  • Best Artistic Presentation: Polanki Polish Women’s Cultural Club of Milwaukee
  • Best Use of Theme: Rohingya American Society
  • Best Depiction of Culture: Sokol/Sokolice Milwaukee (Czech)
  • Best Overall Cultural Booth: Thai American Association of Milwaukee
  • Education Day People’s Choice: Italian Community Center of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Chinese Community, Polanki Polish Women’s Cultural Club of Milwaukee, Shamrock Club of Wisconsin (Irish), Thai American Association of Milwaukee, and Viata Romaneasca Folk Dance (Romanian)

Produced by the International Institute of Wisconsin, Holiday Folk Fair International provided attendees with an opportunity to “Celebrate the Culture of Diversity,” the 2018 event theme. The three-day fair featured an assortment of ethnic foods, music and dance performances, historical displays on ethnic cultures, arts and crafts displays, and educational demonstrations.
